Meet Priscilla M. Mensah

Your past skills are never wasted.

I went from managing safety and risk to becoming a woman in tech. Today, I bring those same powers of observation and thoughtful design into every Super Power Soap workshop.

I help Houston organizations create space for employees to reflect on where they have been, recognize what they carry forward, and turn that story into something they can hold.

The career story inside the workshop

I did not start over. I gathered what I already knew.

Before I wrote code, I worked in insurance risk control and safety management. My job was to walk into an organization, notice what other people might miss, and help turn complex risk into practical decisions.

Moving into web development looked like a career change from the outside. It felt more like a remix. The questions stayed with me: How do people move through a system? Where do they get stuck? What would make the experience work better?

Soapmaking gave those ideas a physical form. Separate materials become something useful through a deliberate process. Our careers work that way, too. Experiences that once seemed unrelated can become the exact skills we need next.

“Past skills are never wasted. Sometimes they are simply waiting for a new place to be useful.”

The workshop framework

Gather. Mix. Pour.

The process gives participants enough structure to reflect without requiring anyone to disclose more than they choose.

What my career background means for your organization

You are not only hiring someone who knows soap. You are hiring a facilitator who understands professional environments and how people participate inside them.

01

A clear purpose

The activity connects to career reflection and team connection, not craft for craft’s sake.

02

Participation without pressure

People can make, reflect, and share at the level that feels appropriate for the room.

03

A facilitator who thinks in systems

The flow, timing, materials, and transitions are designed around the participant experience.

04

A tangible ending

Each participant leaves with handmade soap and a personal reminder of what they bring forward.

Experience in the room

Prepared to hold the microphone and manage the materials.

Priscilla brings conference speaking experience and hands-on facilitation to the same room. Her work includes a large-group soapmaking experience for the Houston Texans Foundation and a hot-process demonstration for the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild.

How I run the room

Meaningful participation does not require everyone to participate the same way.

I pay attention to more than whether participants successfully make soap. I notice who starts talking, who prefers a quieter exchange, and who becomes absorbed in the process.

Soap gives the group a shared task. Story gives the experience meaning. Sharing remains optional.

What You can expect

  • A clear plan for the hour
  • Materials prepared for the group
  • Reflection without forced disclosure
  • A facilitator who manages the flow
  • Soap each participant can take home
