So you might be wondering, what does soapmaking have to do with my career? And I feel you. I would have thought the exact same thing too.

Back in my early 20s I worked in the insurance industry as a risk control consultant and my first assignment was, you guessed it, studying artisan soap makers to get a better idea of the GL and WC risks involved in the process.

Years later I switched careers and become a web developer. It was only during a speech writing professional development workshop that I connected my journey changing careers to the steps of changing oils and lye into soap.

With computer science and coding, I had to gather my materials that I needed. Remix them together in a new way. Think about the strengths that I developed in a way that would impact a tech team and then not only that I had to solidify myself in my skills too I had to get solid in what I was doing and be confident so that I could embody those skills.
