One of the most impactful tech talks I have ever heard wasn’t about scaling, revenue, or disruption.
It was about preschool physics.
At #GHC19, software developers from PBS shared how they built an Angry Birds–style game for preschoolers to learn physics concepts alongside their parents. I wasn’t even a mom at that time and was MESMERIZED by the UX research and purpose that went into it. For a FREE GAME FOR PRESCHOOLERS! It was applause worthy.
That session reminded me why I fell in love with tech. At its best, technology is a neutral tool. It’s the great equalizer for creative people. Especially when directed at children’s education.
If you stripped away metrics for a moment, what impact would you want your work to leave behind?
