Every time I teach a private class, I wait for the moment. The one where the mixture shifts from thin and runny to thick and luscious. It’s saponification in action. A little bit of science, a little bit of magic, and always a delight.

In one class, my student watched the mixture with wide eyes. “Is it supposed to look like this?” she asked, unsure. And then—boom. Thick, creamy soap batter.

She gasped. “Oh wow! That’s so cool!”

She had doubted that the batter would set up, afraid we’d taken a wrong step. But the soap always comes together—it just needs patience, the right technique, and a little trust.

She laughed, relaxing into the process. “I get it now,” she said, as we carefully poured her hot soap into the mold. “You just have to go with it.”

Soapmaking has a way of teaching you to trust yourself.

If you’ve been wanting to try hot process soap, this is your chance. You don’t have to overthink it—I’ve got all the materials ready for you. You just have to show up and create.
